​Hi, I'm Kristin, the founder of Emerge Surf and Somatic Therapy, therapist, and retreat leader. For the past decade, I've been working with people from all walks of life as I explored a field in clinical social work. With background experience working with non profit organizations serving houseless communities, immigrants and refugee families, emergency hospital psychiatric units, inpatient treatment, and wilderness and adventure therapy programs. I believe as humans in our array of experiences, what we all share is a deep desire to feel understood and accepted, which is why I put relationship and connection at the core of all healing. Through curiosity and compassion,  I help clients heal their relationship with themselves and reduce symptoms of trauma. When we work to heal ourselves, it has ripple effect touching our relationships, family, community, the earth, and those to come.

I studied Sociology and Social work at the University of Wisconsin-Steven's Point and  received my Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work at Portland State University in Oregon. I hold a License in Clinical Social Work in the State of Oregon.  Understanding not only people, but the systems we live in has always been an interest of mine and why I am passionate about offering a holistic perspective and path to therapy and mental health.

In my own self healing, surfing and connecting to nature and water has been a source of refuge, forced presence, reflection, movement, exploration, and community - the perfect therapeutic recipe. I believe the most profound healing can happen outside of the therapy room which is why I've received formal training in trauma informed surf therapy and have created retreat experiences that invite people to connect with themselves, their body, the ocean in a deeper more meaningful way.
